The first World Social Day has been organized at UN Office in Bangkok as a collaboration of International Federation of Social Workers-Asia Pacific OFSW AP) and Asian and Pacific Association for Social Work Education (APASWE) and the local social work consortium, the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, Thailand Association of Social Workers (TASVV) and Thai Association of Social Work and Social Welfare Education (TASWE) on the theme of "Promoting Community and Environmental Sustainability'

The Minister for Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, Police General Adul Sangsingkeaw, Chair of the event's opening ceremony has thanked to all representative of the agencies and participants for initiating and attending the event that supports to the UN Sustainable Development Goals CMGs) and has delivered his confidence that social work and social development communities have contributed their capacities in promoting community and environmental sustainability as of the theme for the event.

Along with this one day event, there were exhibitions on the promoting of community resilience and self sufficiency on environments and energy, and on the community service centers by the organizing agencies as the side events for the World Social Work Day at Bangkok UN Conference Center.

Two keynote address follow the opening ceremony delivered by Dr. Nagesh Kumar, UNESCAP Director, on "Leaving no one behind, Sustainable Development Goals and Inclusive Social Development in Asia and the Pacific" and Professor Mariko Kimura, President of International Federation of Social Workers-Asia Pacific CIFSW-AP) on "Global Social Workers and Educators".

These key no. address led to 2 panel discussions, a morning and an afternoon sessions. The morning panel discussion was on "Social work role to achieve in promoting community and environmental sustainability" the discussants include Dr. Fentiny Nugroho, Presiden of Asian and Pacific Association for Social Work Education (APASWE), Dr. Decha Sungkawan, President of Thai Association of Social Work and Social Welfare Education (APASWE), and Dr Jitti Mongkolchaiarunya, Dean of Pridi Panomyong School of Development Studies, Thammasat University. This panel discussion has been moderated by Dr. Prapaporn Tivayanond, Director of Social Policy and Development Program, Faculty of Social Administration, Thammasat University.

The afternoon panel discussion on -Role of Thai social work consortium to achieve M promoting community and environmental sustainability" the discussants include Mr. Suradej Chayakasetrin, a representative of Social Welfare Council of Thailand under His Majesty the King patronage, Mr. Chichai Cheechareon, social welfare advisor for the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, Professor Apinya Wejjayachai, President of Thai Council of Social Work Profession, and Ms. Natthawadee Na Manorom, Thailand Association of Social Workers. The session has been moderated by Assistant Professor Chanon Komolmarn, Faculty of Social Administration, Thammasat University.
